P.V Sindhu Blazes Into Olympics Finals, Assured Of A Medal On Friday

Rio: Ace Indian shuttler P.V Sindhu breezed past her Japanese opponent Nozomi Okuhara in the Semi-final match at Rio Olympics on Thursday and assured herself and India of at least a silver medal in woman’s badminton.

The first set saw the two semi-finalists battle it out neck to neck, before Sindhu edged her rival to win the set 21-19. The second set which also seemed to go the same way suddenly witnessed a twist midway, when Sindhu charged ahead and and left her opponent behind. Sindhu showed her dominance on the court clinching the set 21-10.

Having won a medal assuring match in two straight sets, Sindhu will now face off with Spain’s Carolina Marin on Friday.

Speaking to NDTV shortly after the match, Sindhu said that her target is gold and promised to play her heart out on Friday.
