Prof. Lakshmi Found Guilty Of PG Medico Sandhya’s Death

Guntur: Government General Hospital (GGH) professor Dr. Lakshmi has been held responsible in the death of PG student Dr B Sandhya Rani by the probe committee.

Health minister Dr. Kamineni Srinivas at the secretariat, Velagapudi on Tuesday said that they have received the committee reports and officials have been directed to take action against the professor.

"The probe committee felt that Dr Lakshmi is guilty. We will not spare her,” Dr Kamineni Srinivas said.

The three-member committee stated that due to the harassment meted by professor, a second year PG medico student Sandhya Rani committed suicide.

Sandhya injected high dose of anesthesia to herself and died. In the suicide note Sanndhya said that she is ending her life because of the harassment meted out to her by Professor Dr Lakshmi

The committee comprised of Siddartha Medical College principal Dr Sashank, GGH deputy superintendent Dr Vital and Dr Bharathi Devi, government general hospital superintendent in Nellore.

According to sources, Dr.Lakshmi would be terminated from the service. Police have launched a manhunt to track the professor who is at large.

Sandhya (27) from Nalgonda district secured a seat in the Department of Gynaecology in 2014. Since then, she had been living in a house at Kannavari Thota.
