Amaravati: If one looks at some of the figures relating to Praja Sankalpa Yatra undertaken by YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, they are truly staggering. Total days-341, total kilometers 3,648. Directly interacted with 1 crore 25 lakh people. The Praja Sankalpa Yatra is of a scale and extent that people of the Telugu states have never witnessed.

The Praja Sankalpa Yatra commenced from the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Smruthi Vanam (YSR ghat) in Idupulapaya, YSR Kadapa district on 6 November 2017. It is to conclude on on 9 January 2019 in Ichchapuram of Srikakulam district. By the time Padayatra culminates it is going to touch the mark of 3,648 kilometers. 2,516 villages have been covered and by Wednesday 124 public meetings would have taken place as part of the Padayatra, with 123 already over. As per estimates in small towns 30,000 to 50,000 people showed up, whereas in important towns and cities, 60,000 to 1,00,000 people turned up for the public rallies. Taking an average of 60,000 people per meeting, a total of 74,40,000 people attended the public meeting.


Interacting with the masses
Along with people who marched along with YS Jagan, many others were waiting to meet the leader in their villages. A total of 15,000 people interacted with him on a daily basis on an average. In 341 days the total number of people, who met him could be computed at 51,15,000 lakhs, adding up to a grand total as 1.25 crore people throughout the Padayatra. On one hand, thousands of people attended Atmiya samaveshalu, on the other hand, there are Telugu people, who are touched by other social platforms all across the globe.


By the end of padayatra 2,516 villages, 231 mandal centers, 54 municipalities, 8 cities will be covered. People thronged along all the way to meet people’s leader and express their anguish. Scores of people met YS Jagan and expressed their anger over TDP’s corruption, atrocities and excesses. People from all walks of life--the eaged and the infirm, students and unemployed youth, women, employees, contract lecturers, nurses, RTC workers, sugar mill workers, dairy farmers, weavers, people from different communities, farmers, daily wage laborers and others came to meet the leader. There were many others, who wanted to take selfies and pictures with the leader.


People working in the fields came running to have a glance at the people’s leader. Thousands of people in the towns, cities marched along YS Jagan. People were standing on the rooftops to look at their leader march and listen to his speeches. The Kanaka Durga bridge linking Guntur and Vijayawada was filled with the supporters of YS Jagan when he crossed Guntur and entered Vijayawada as a part of the march, making it a sight to behold. In another instance, the rail- cum road bridge in Rajahmundry also was also filled with a sea of humanity. The public meeting held in Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam will be remembered as a milestone in the history. All along the way, unprecedented scenes were witnessed as never before.
