Bengaluru: Noted writer and cine lyricist Nayani Krishnamurthy passed away due to ill-health in a private hospital in Bangaluru on Thursday. The 67-year-old writer had been ill for the last few months and breathed his last while undergoing treatment.

Krishnamurthy authored many novels, stories and spiritual books. Several of his novels won prizes. He also worked as sub-editor to the Bommarillu, Vijay and Nilima magazines. He brought out Snehabala, Ma Badi and Pathashala magazines. His publications on education related issues got popularity. The writer published his first novel Yaminikuntalalu at the age of 23.

The Noted Writer was also cine lyricist and penned super hit songs. His song 'Sumam Prati Sumam Sumam' from the movie Maharshi has helped the writer gain popularity. He was given life achievement award for his significant role in the Telugu literature especially children's books. Several educationists, writers, poets and political leaders also condoled his death. Family sources said the funeral of the departed writer would take place at Chowdepalli village in Chittoor district on March 2.
