Police overreaction in Vijayamma’s arrest draws flak - Sakshi Post

Over enthusiasm of the police during the tour of Y S Vijayamma, honorary president of YSR Congress party, drew flak from all corners.

After consoling the people in flood-hit areas in Khammam district, she was about to enter Nalgonda district. But, the police prevented her at Painampalli village from proceeding further.

She appealed the political leaders not to foil her tour as it has nothing to do with politics. Though she explained that her visit was only aimed to meet the suffering and console them, the police unheeded her appeals under the pretext that her tour may create law and order problem.

Taking serious exception on the police attitude in preventing her from meeting the victims of the rain fury, Vijayamma staged a sit-in at Painampalli village, demanding justice. Then she was arrested and shifted to Nelakondapalli police station. Speaking to the press persons at the Nelekondapalli police station, she dared the government to reason on what grounds she was prevented from meeting the public, who got affected by rain havoc.

She questioned the police whether they also arrest Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy if he visits Nalgonda.

“Late YSR foretold about the highhandedness of the politicians. He already warned the people that they should take passports to enter Telangana, if the State is divided. Am I going to Pakistan or Bangladesh? Is it not a democratic country? Is it wrong to interact with the public?  What ushered the police to clamp 144 section here?” she said.

According to reports, more than 2000 police personnel deployed at Nelakondapalli mandal in view of her tour in the district. In fact, her tour in four constituencies of Khammam district went peaceful. Though the ministers from the region, Jana Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy called upon the public to prevent her from touring in the areas, there was absolutely no protest from people. YSRCP leaders also alleged the role of ministers behind the over action of police.

Meanwhile, just hours before Vijayamma's tour entered Telangana districts, some miscreants allegedly damaged the statue of YSR. Reacting to the incident, she said the miscreants who damaged statue of YSR, could not wipe off his image from the hearts of the public.

Earlier, while visiting rain-hit villages in Khammam district on Thursday, Vijayamma accused the government of failing to help victims who suffered from torrential rains. She demanded the interest free loans afresh and loan waivers to the farmers...She said that YSR delivered development to backward and drought-prone districts in all three regions of the State.
