Parents Part Ways, Abandon Mentally-Challenged Son

Warangal: In a tragic incident, a 11-year-old mentally-challenged boy has been abandoned by his parents in a family brawl. Cherry was left outside his house in Bommalagudi in Warangal on Saturday.
The child was shifted to an orphanage in Kazipet by the police officials who were informed about the situation by the neighbors.
Since the parents have abandoned the child, we decided to put him under the care of the child welfare committee until they return
Neighbors told the police that the couple fought frequently over financial issues. Roopa, boy's mother filed a harassment case against her husband Ravi Kumar and in-laws. However, Ravi, who is a government school teacher, left the house along with his parents.
Subsequently, Roopa on Saturday night left her son Cherry outside their house and asked neighbors to look as she would return in half an hour. As she didn’t return, the next day police officials were informed about the incident.
"Since the parents have abandoned the child, we decided to put him under the care of the child welfare committee until they return,” said Warangal ACP Chaitanya Kumar.
