Pakistan Chief Justice Regrets Skirt Speech

Pakistan Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar - Sakshi Post

Islamabad: Pakistan Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday apologized over his ‘skirt’ remarks that he gave on January 13, 2018, during his speech at a conference in Karachi. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said he had quoted Winston Churchill’s quote.

He had said on January 13: “I was always told, a speech should be like a woman’s skirt. It should not be too long that one loses one’s interest. Neither it should be too short that it doesn’t cover the subject and short enough to create interest.”

Women's Action Forum (WAF) in a letter to Nisar, castigated his skirt remarks.

The chief justice during hearing of case said he was sorry if his words hurt anyone in the Pakistan.

"Women are more than 50 percent of our population and I cannot even think of hurting them with my words," he said.
