'Padayatra patent rights lie with YSR family'

The Late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s family only can claim the patent rights for Padayatras in Andhra Pradesh, said Tirupathi MLA and senior YSR Congress party leader Bhumana Karunakara Reddy at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district today.

After paying homage at the YSR Samadhi, Karunakara Reddy said that YSR’s daughter Sharmila is undertaking the massive walkathon, ‘Praja Prasthanam’, of 3,000 km only to learn about the series of problems being faced by the common man. “Perhaps she will remain in the annals of the State as a woman, who has undertaken the Padayatra of such a magnitude,” he said.

Karunakara Reddy explained that on October 18 Sharmila will address a large-scale public rally at Idupulapaya before embarking on the Padayatra. After YSR’s demise, the State Government is squeezing the blood of the people. “The common man is sandwiched between the steep hike in the prices of essential commodities and fallen income levels because of ineffective implementation of welfare schemes,” the Tirupathi MLA said.

“The ruling party has conveniently forgotten the series of welfare measures initiated by the Later YSR. The late leader’s ideals are given a safe burial,” he added. Ridiculing TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s Padayatra, he termed that Naidu’s sole aim is to grab power. “There is no need for the YSR Congress party to replicate Naidu and in fact, it is he (Naidu) who is emulating YSR,” Karunakara Reddy observed.

Along with Karunakara Reddy, former MP Bhuma Nagi Reddy, MLAs Amarnath Reddy, Gadikota Srikanth Reddy and K Sriramulu, MLC Narayana Reddy were among scores of party workers who paid glowing tributes at the YSR Samadhi at Idupulapaya today
