The 90th Academy Awards, popularly known as Oscars was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel was a star-studded event and everyone waited with a bated breath as to who would be the winner. We bring to you the list of winners of this year. Here we go....
1. Frances McDormand Is Best Actress
Two decades after winning her first Best Actress Academy Award for playing Marge Gunderson in "Fargo", a police chief about to give birth, Frances McDormand today took home her second Oscar for her role of Mildred Hayes, a mother grieving the loss of her teenage daughter, in award season's favourite "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri".
2. Gary Oldman Is Best Actor
Gary Oldman, for essaying former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in "Darkest Hour" won the best actor in a leading role categories at the 90th Academy Awards here.
3. Supporting Actor
Sam Rockwell won the Academy Award for the best Actor in a supporting role for his portrayal of a racist-yet-redeemable police officer in Martin McDonagh's "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri".
4. Supporting Actress
For Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar winner Allison Janney, mom is the word as the actor took home her first golden knight for the portrayal of an abusive, pushy and ambitious mother in “I, Tonya”.
5. Best Picture
Guillermo del Toro's inter-species fantasy drama "The Shape of Water" today won the Best Picture Oscar. The film also helped del Toro win his maiden Oscar in the directing category.
6. Director
Guillermo del Toro, who faces a copyright infringement lawsuit for "The Shape Of Water", has won the Best Director and Best Picture Academy Awards for the movie at the 90th Oscars ceremony here.
7. Original Screenplay
Jordan Peele today bagged the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for "Get Out" at the 90th Academy Awards, trumping front-runners "The Shape of Water" and "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri".
8. Adapted Screenplay
James Ivory, screenwriter and co-producer of the drama "Call Me by Your Name" today created history as he became the oldest Oscar winner for the screenplay.
9. Foreign Language Film
"A Fantastic Woman" today took home the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film trumping front-runner "The Square" from Sweden
10. Animated Feature
Disney Pixar's "Coco" today won the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar. The film was competing with "Loving Vincent", "The Boss Baby", "Ferdinand", and "The Breadwinner".
11. Visual Effects
Blade Runner 2049 wins oscar for best visual effects.
