Not Scared By Threats, Only Amused: Deepika Padukone

As several organisations protest and even announce a bounty, the woman at the center of the issue - Padmavati alias Deepika Padukone appeared calm and stated she is more amused than scared by the threats.

The actor said, "nothing can stop the release of Padmavati. It will be a film India would be proud of". Denying that fear is not an emotion that she identifies herself with, Deepika said that as an artiste she feels let down by the people and the daily protests only amuse her. In an interview to DNA, she reiterated she has “full faith in the judicial system of our country. I know no wrong will be done”.

"It's appalling, it's absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed," she said, commenting on the hullabaloo the movie is causing pre-release.

Another leading actor of the film, Ranveer Singh (Alauddin Khilji), too came out strongly in support of the film. In an interview to Hindustan Times, he said filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bansali has done lot of research before the film went on floors. "He has lot of respect for Indian culture and traditions. Having acted in the film, I know the story does not hurt any religious tradition or sentiment," Ranveer said.

Viacom18 Motion Pictures and with Bhansali Productions jointly produced "Padmavati", which is scheduled for a December 1 release. Meanwhile, the censor board (CBFC) has reportedly sent back the film's application for certification, citing that it is incomplete.
