No Compromises On Special Category Status: YS Jagan

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy - Sakshi Post

Peddakonduru (Nellore): The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is all set to implement an action plan to impress on the Central government for special category status for Andhra Pradesh as promised in the AP Bifurcation Act.

Presiding over a meeting of YSRCP MPs, MLAs and regional leaders at the conclusion of the 85th day of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra on Monday, Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said there will be no compromise on the issue of Special Category Status. The YSRCP chief said that the party cadre will conduct protests at all the district collectorates in the state on March 1. Similar protests will be held on March 5 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi by the YSRCP.

"The protests will carry the slogan that special status is our right and we do not need a package," YS Jagan said. There is no need to amend laws for special status, he said and added that only an approval by the Prime Minister is sufficient. "Therefore it is necessary for the people of the state to participate in the dharna and impress on the Central government for the special status," he said. The Special Status will increase investments in the state and also provide employment and educational opportunities, he added. "Chandrababu is misleading the people with special package statements. It is not sufficient for the status and does not guarantee employment opportunities nor investments," YS Jagan said.
