Neeraj Chopra Wins Silver At WAC 2022, Scripts History Again 19 Years

Neeraj Chopra become the first person to secure a medal in the Javelin Throw event in the World Athletic Championship held in Oregon, USA. With this win, he also became the second Indian athlete to earn a medal in the Athletic championship after Anju Bobby Georg. Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal in the men's javelin throw with a throw of 88.13 m in the men's final.

The 24-year-old, who did not make the final of the 2017 World Athletics Championships and did not compete in 2019 due to injury, earned his first medal at the world meet in Oregon, USA.

Neeraj started with a foul. In his second attempt, he throw 82.39m and improved it to 86.37m, but it was not enough to place him on the podium as Jakub Vadlejch throw 88.09m and Germany's national champion Julian Weber throw 86.86m.

However, Neeraj remained cool and confident in his ability to produce the huge throw. In the fourth throw, Neeraj Chopra produced a huge throw of 88.13 m, and it appeared that he had done enough to secure the medal.
