Pakistan Link to Explosive Laden Hexacopter Drone Shot Down in Jammu

The authorities in Jammu and Kashmir shot down a hexacopter in the Kanachak area of the Akhnoor sector yesterday. The drone had entered the Indian territory from six to seven kilometers away and was carrying an IED weighing around five kilograms.

A senior police officer said, the hexacopter was shot down by vigilant Jammu and Kashmir police troops in the region; a bullet struck the hexacopter, which then crashed; an IED weighing five kilograms was attached to the hexacopter. 

He claimed that the IED was packed in packaging material and was intended to be assembled later in order to carry out the terror act.

"We've started our investigations, and we're examining the area and gathering evidence to figure out who was intended to pick up the IED once it was dropped," the officer stated.

The Jammu Airforce station was attacked on June 27 by two IEDs dropped by drones. While no one was killed in the incident, various structures inside the Airforce station were damaged, and two Airforce personnel suffered minor injuries.

There have been more than five drone sightings near military stations around the Jammu region since the attack on the Jammu Airforce station. Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have been put on high alert after receiving information that terror groups are planning to use sophisticated drones to launch terror attacks on vital security installations across the Union territory.
