October 21, 2025 Local Holiday in Assam: Check District-Wise List
The Diwali festivities continue across India, and in Assam, several districts will observe a local holiday today, October 21, 2025, to mark the ongoing celebrations of the Festival of Lights.
While the Assam state government had earlier declared October 20 as a public holiday for Diwali, multiple district administrations have now extended the festive break by announcing October 21 as a local holiday in their respective regions.
Districts Observing Holiday on October 21
According to official notifications, the following districts in Assam will remain closed today:
- South Salmara
- Mankachar
- Kokrajhar
- Golaghat
In addition, government offices and employees in Kamrup (Metropolitan), Hojai, Bajali, and Dibrugarh districts will also enjoy a local holiday today, Tuesday, October 21.
Institutions to Remain Closed
As part of the local holiday announcement, all government departments, revenue and magistrate courts, and financial institutions in these districts will remain closed for the day. The closure extends to schools, colleges, banks, insurance offices, and cooperative societies, allowing employees and students to take part in the festive celebrations.
The extension of the holiday has brought cheer to citizens, giving them an additional day to celebrate Diwali with family and friends. With lights, sweets, and community gatherings continuing across the state, the festive spirit in Assam remains vibrant through the day.
