The District Collector, S. Prem Krishnan, has declared a local holiday on November 3, 2025, to all government offices and schools of Thiruvalla taluk limits. This is in relation to the Parumala Palli Perunnal celebrations.
Holiday Details
The local holiday will be celebrated in all the government offices, schools, and colleges, such as Anganwadi centers and professional schools, within the limits of Thiruvalla taluk. Pre-scheduled exams are not going to be influenced by this holiday.
Parumala Church Festival
The Parumala Church festival, which started on October 26, is a big celebration marking the 123rd anniversary of His Holiness Geverugis Mar Gregorios Thirumeni, the very first Indian to have been canonized as a Christian saint. The festival will end on November 3, 2025, with different programs that include meditation, intercessory prayer, and a series of Gregorian lectures.
Festival Celebrations
The festival festivities are guided by communal and social leaders, and the flag hoisting ceremony was conducted on October 26. The events are being organized under the chief presiding guidance of His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, Catholicos of Malankara Church, and with the co-effort of venerable priests.
Other Areas with Local Holidays
Besides Thiruvalla, local holidays have also been announced in Alappuzha district's Mavelikkara and Chengannur taluks on November 3. The holiday will be celebrated in all government offices and schools in these locations, with the exception of pre-scheduled exams.
