BSY to Extend Lockdown in 11 Karnataka Districts Over High Covid Cases

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announced a phased unlocking process for the state on Thursday night after the cabinet meeting. The unlocking plan will start from June 14, but 11 districts that have a high COVID-19 positivity rate of more than 15% will remain under strict lockdown till June 21. While a night curfew is imposed on all the districts, including Bengaluru, from 7 pm to 5 am, and the weekend curfew will start on June 14 from Friday 7 pm to Monday 5 am.

BS Yediyurappa said that there will be no change in restrictions in the districts of Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Belagavi, and Kodagu districts, as per the advice of the Technical Advisory Committee for control of the spread of Covid-19. The government said it will unlock only those districts where the positive rate is below 5 per cent. 

The 11 Karnataka districts where the Karnataka CM has extended the lockdown include Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Belagavi, and Kodagu.
