Lee Bo-young Shares Insights on Drama 'Hide' and 'Agency' in her latest interview with India Today

Love for 3 Idiots: Lee Bo-young

The South Korean sensation, Lee Bo-young, had an exclusive interview with India Today where she shared her experiences and emotions during her time in various films, including her upcoming drama, 'Hide,' where she wanders through the bustling city of Seoul, South Korea, in a desperate search for her husband played by Lee Moo-saeng.

The South Korean actress shifted back and forth, comparing her experiences while working on 'Hide' and her previous film, 'Agency.' Lee Bo-young, known for playing multiple roles across diverse genres, feels that K-dramas have an audience that resonates globally. The actress also shared her thoughts on her exposure to India and Indian Cinema.

The actress shared her frustration while playing her role as Na Mun-yeong in 'Hide.' She shared that she always chooses projects where she plays a character while building a narrative and helping the audience understand the plot. However, her upcoming drama, 'Hide,' is event-oriented rather than character-oriented. Here, the plot revolves around the events occurring rather than character development. The actress later expressed that she just put her head into it and focused on the event rather than building a character for Na Mun-yeong. The difference between this role and the one she played in 'Agency' was significant.

During her time filming for 'Agency,' the actress claims it was much more enjoyable to collaborate with a group of people and act in unison, but the lack of the same in 'Hide' made her feel lonely and claimed the filming process to be very boring as she was acting all alone.

When asked for a role that the actress felt was the most impactful or memorable for her, she replied with the role of Se-young in 'My Daughter.' The plot of the film pushed the character Se-young to do certain things which were incomprehensible for everyone, like how she abandoned her father in the story. But the narrative helped the audience sympathize with the character and accept her for who she is by the end of the film.

Lee Bo-young shared a few words on how women are getting much more interesting roles than before and how the concept of attaching a shelf life to women in the industry has faded away. This is well appreciated by the audience, especially the independent female characters with empowering roles. The actress shares she is grateful for that.

The South Korean actress communicated her thoughts on how she stays true to the character while also bringing her own interpretations and nuances to the roles she plays. Lee Bo-young feels that the actor playing the role has the best understanding of the character, understanding aspects like emotional changes from one scene to another and the connections between the scenes themselves. The actress feels it's right to incorporate a lot of her interpretations and nuances into the character, but she is also very receptive to what the director says, who overlooks the entire process.
