Government Orders Schools to Sing Vande Mataram on November 7

In honor of the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song Vande Mataram, the Telangana State Government has issued a directive to all schools across the state to hold morning assemblies at 10:00 AM on this special occasion.

The government has asked schools to organize cultural programs and special sessions dedicated to Vande Mataram, celebrating its role in India’s freedom struggle and its continuing influence on national pride.

According to official reports, more than 150 schools have already made arrangements to conduct these events in a grand manner. The Education Department emphasized that students should actively participate in singing Vande Mataram, understanding its historical and emotional significance.

As part of the celebration, schools have been encouraged to host patriotic songs, speeches, quiz competitions, and art exhibitions reflecting the theme of “Unity and Devotion to the Nation.”

The Central Education Department has also announced that Vande Mataram will be sung across all schools in India as a collective tribute to the song that once stirred millions of hearts during the freedom struggle.

Originally written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and later set to tune by Rabindranath Tagore, Vande Mataram has stood as an emblem of national unity for 150 years. The government’s initiative aims to help students connect with the nation’s rich history and rekindle patriotic values among the younger generation.

This year-long celebration serves as a reminder of how a song once inspired revolution—and continues today to inspire love for the motherland.
