Petrol and Diesel Prices Hiked Again Across India

Petrol and diesel prices have increased again across India as fuel companies continue to revise rates due to rising global crude oil prices. This is the third fuel price hike in May 2026, and the increase is linked to tensions in the Middle East and higher international oil costs.

According to reports, petrol prices were increased by around 87 paise per litre, while diesel prices went up by nearly 91 paise per litre in major cities. Oil marketing companies said the hike became necessary because of heavy losses caused by rising crude oil prices in the global market.

Experts say the ongoing global oil crisis and supply concerns are putting pressure on fuel prices worldwide. India, which imports a large amount of crude oil, is also feeling the impact. Reports suggest that state-run oil companies are still facing losses even after multiple price hikes this month.

The central government has clarified that there is no fuel shortage in the country. Officials said long queues seen at some petrol pumps are mainly due to panic buying and increased demand from bulk diesel consumers.

The latest fuel price hike is expected to affect daily transportation costs, travel expenses, and prices of essential goods in the coming days. Many people are closely tracking fuel price updates as petrol and diesel rates continue to change frequently across the country.
