AP Elections 2024 in First Phase Likely, EC to Sound Poll Bugle Soon

A team of Election Commission officials will begin its tour of states from January 7 in connection with the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The ECI officials will review the preparations for the upcoming polls in the country. As per the reports the date for holding the General elections will be advanced by a month. 

In 2019, the Lok Sabha elections were held in seven phases. The massive election exercise began on April 11 and concluded on May 19. This time the Election Commission is reportedly considering holding the Lok Sabha elections in seven to eight phases across the country.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that elections to Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh will be held in the first phase of 2024 General elections. The Lok Sabha and 175-member Assembly elections were held in Andhra Pradesh on 11 April 2019. The ECI team will soon visit Andhra Pradesh to take stock of the polling preparedness in the state. 

In the first phase, elections will likely be held for 39 Lok Sabha seats of Tamil Nadu and 25 Lok Sabha seats of Andhra Pradesh.
