AP CM YS Jagan's Father-in-law Gangi Reddy Passes Away

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy's father-in-law and an eminent doctor in Pulivendula, EC Gangi Reddy, passed away after a brief illness. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Hyderabad late Friday night. He had been ill for some time and was undergoing treatment at the private hospital in Hyderabad. His mortal remains were later shifted to Pulivendula. Gangi Reddy is the father of YS Jagan's wife, YS Bharathi. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Bharathi Reddy arrived in Pulivendula and paid their last respects to late Dr Gangi Reddy.

His cremation will take place at the YS Samadhula Thota in Pulivendula this afternoon. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy arrived in Pulivendula by helicopter before going straight to Dr Gangi Reddy's residence. The AP CM will shortly attend Dr Gangi Reddy's funeral.

Gangi Reddy was one of the leading doctors in Pulivendula. He earned the sobriquet of the 'Poorman's Doctor' with a reputation of lending a helping hand and medical services to anyone in need. He also served as an MPP of Pulivendula between 2001-2005. Gangi Reddy would also be remembered for taking out a paadayatra In 2003 from Pulivendula to the Kadapa Collectorate to press for the distribution of seeds for rabi crops for farmers.

Stung by this tragic news, people from all across Kadapa district have been flocking to Dr Gangi Reddy’s residence in Pulivendula to catch one last glimpse of the popular doctor and pay homage to him.

A host of Andhra Pradesh ministers, MLAs, MPs and MLCs besides party leaders paid obeisance to Gangi Reddy’s mortal remains.

YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy expressed his profound grief over the death of EC Gangi Reddy. He paid glowing tributes to departed soul, saying that Gangi Reddy was not only a people's doctor but also a people's leader. A pall of gloom descended on Pulivendula following the news of EC Gangi Reddy's demise.

Advisor to Andhra Pradesh Government Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy took to Twitter to pay his homage to Dr Gangi Reddy. “Dr Gangi Reddy was synonymous with public service. His demise is painful. He dedicated his lifetime for rendering medical services to the poor. Dr Gangi Reddy’s services were invaluable as he was instrumental in improving the living standards of several families. He played a significant role in the development of the Pulivendula region. I pay my tributes to him,” Sajjala tweeted.
