Dancing Uncle Is Now An Official Brand Ambassador

Vidisha: A 46-year-old Professor from Madhya Pradesh, Sanjeev Shrivastava, who took the social media by storm with his viral "dancing uncle" video, has been recognized by the state government for his fascinating rise to popularity. Professor Shrivastava, who is overwhelmed with the craze, has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha Municipal Corporation on Saturday.

Since three days, the Professor's Govinda-style dance video continues to enthrall millions of netizens on social media. However, the new brand ambassador is yet to come to terms with the unexpected overnight fame and reception the video drew. "This is an unreal feeling. I can't believe my dance video has gone viral. I thank everyone for the love and support. I have been dancing since 1982 and Govinda has always been my idol. I hope my popularity brings me more opportunity to dance," he said.

The popularity of Dancing Uncle has soared to such heights that actors Arjun Kapoor and Anushka Sharma are among many celebrities who have appreciated Professor Shrivastava's dancing video. Also, Raveena Tandon, Divya Dutta, Dia Mirza, Divya Dutta and Sandhya Menon heaped heavy praise on his performance.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to Twitter to appreciate the dancing uncle video. His tweet read: "there's something special in the waters of Madhya Pradesh. The professor's electric dance moves have gone viral across the country."

In the viral video, Professor is seen dancing to "Aap Ke Aa Jane Se" from the 1987 film "Khudgarz" starring Govinda and Neelam, during a sangeet function of his brother-in-law's wedding ceremony in Gwalior.

Looks like there's no to end to the craze for the Dancing Uncle. Now, people from across the video are flooding the internet with their parody versions of the Professor's dance. Deep Brar, a USA-based dancer tried to copy the moves of Dancing Uncle. She has posted a video of her dance moves on YouTube with a tag line, "This dance on wedding anniversary is so cool. Please let me know if you know him. He’s a superstar.”
