Nurse Commits Suicide Over Boyfriend’s Refusal To Marry

Hyderabad: Depressed over boyfriend's refusal to marry her, a woman committed suicide in her house under Saidabad police jurisdiction here on Wednesday.

According to the details given by Inspector Sathaiah, IS Sadan division's Balaji Nagar resident Uma Rani got married to Narsing Rao in 1997. They also had a daughter. After the death of her husband just three years into their marriage, Uma Rani shifted to Keshav Nagar Colony along with her daughter and was working as a nurse in Siddheshwara Hospital.

Meanwhile, Uma Rani, who befriended Sravan Kumar, a car driver, has been in a live-in relationship for quite some time now. However, the two have been involved in disputes over their plans to marry each other.

"When Uma Rani asked about the marriage on Wednesday, Sravan said that he would marry her after his sisters' wedding. Later in the day, Uma Rani was dejected since Sravan did not answer her phone calls and committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan. After repeatedly knocking the door, Sravan called his friend for assistance. The two broke the door only to find her dead," the Inspector said.

The police have immediately rushed to the spot and taken Sravan into custody. A case has been registered based on a complaint given by the deceased's friend, Ram Chander, and the investigation has begun.
