Nandyal By-Election On August 23, Nominations From July 29 

TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy; YSR Congress Party candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy with party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy - Sakshi Post

The by-election to Nandyal Assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh will be held on August 23. The notification will be issued on July 29 and the last date for filing nominations will be August 5.

The schedule for by-elections to Nandyal in AP, Valpoi and Panaji in Goa and Bawana in NCT of Delhi has been released on Thursday.

The Nandyal seat fell vacant with the death of Bhuma Nagi Reddy in March this year. YSR Congress Party is fielding Silpa Mohan Reddy as its candidate while TDP finalized Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy for the seat.

Model Code Of Conduct

The Model Code of Conduct shall come into force with immediate effect in the district in which the whole or any part of the Assembly Constituencies going for byeelections are included, subject to partial modification as issued vide Commission's instruction No. 437/1NST/2012/CC&BE, dated 26th April, 2012 (available on the Commission's website).

The Model Code of Conduct shall be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the State Governments concerned. The Model Code of Conduct shall also be applicable to the Union Government for the States concerned, the Election Commission of India said in a press release.

Detailed schedule for by-elections 

Electoral Rolls

The Electoral Rolls for Andhra Pradesh, Goa and NCT of Delhi with reference to January 1, 2017 have been finally published. The by-election in the States will be held with the existing rolls.

Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs)

The Commission has decided to use EVMs and WPATs in the by-elections in all the polling stations. Adequate numbers of EVMs have been made available and all steps have been taken to ensure that the polls are conducted smoothly with the help of these machines.

Identification Of Voters

In consonance with the past practice, the Commission has decided that the voter's identification shall be mandatory in the aforementioned bye- elections at the time of poll.

Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter. However, in order to ensure that no voter is deprived of his/her franchise, if his/her name figures in the Electoral Rolls, separate instructions will be issued to allow additional documents for identification of voters at the time of poll in the said by-elections.
