Vizag: Protesting against the shifting of kabela from Hanumanthapaka to Marikavalas, 40km away from the city, the merchants have decided to stop selling mutton from Sunday.

Talking to media, the Mutton Merchants Welfare Association president Kilani Apparao said over 700 mutton sellers from Pendurthi to Gajuwaka are participating in the bandh. Demanding immediate reopening of the kabela at Hanumanthapaka, he said the protest will continue until the government responds positively.

Apparao said the businesses were badly affected due to the shifting of kabela and 6,700 sheep breeders as well as 10,000 mutton vendors are facing financial crisis. The existing kabela at Hanumanthapaka needs to be rebuilt in a two-storey building with all hygienic facilities, he said.
