MLA’s Son Booked for Rape

Kakinada: An MLA’s son has been booked in rape and SC, ST atrocity cases in Andhra Pradesh.
Varupula Rajubabu, second son of Varupula Subbarao, MLA of Prathipadu constituency in East Godavari district allegedly betrayed a tribal woman on
the promise of marrying her.
Cases were registered in Kakinada rural police station on Thursday night. According to the police, a tribal woman and
her family from Dalipadu village of Y.Ramavaram mandal in the district has been residing close to the MLA’s residence in Lingamparthi village of
Yeleswaram mandal.
Rajubabu told the woman that he was in love with her and promised to marry her. In this backdrop, there were regular arguments between the two
since a couple of days following which Rajubabu categorically said that he will not marry the tribal lady. The woman, then, lodged a compliant about
the betrayal to Sarpavaram police. Police registered a case against Rajubabu under the IPC sections 376, 373 besides SC, ST atrocity case.
