Missing Vizag Student Stages His Kidnap To Extract Money From Parents

Visakhapatnam: The abduction case of a 20-year-old Industrial Training Institute (ITI) student turned out to be fake as the Vizag police suspect that he staged his own kidnap to extort money from from his parents to fulfill his own luxuries. The police have tracked down the student and visited the place from where the phone calls were made. The student has been taken into custody. However, official confirmation is yet to come.

The student G. Manikanta went missing on Monday evening and as he didn’t return from college his family lodged a complaint. The next day his sister got a call from the kidnappers who are believed to be the student's friends saying that they got a contract of Rs10 lakh to kill Manikanta. And the kidnappers said that they would leave him if the family pays Rs15 lakh.

Manikanta is a resident of Lakshminagar area and second-year student at ITI at Pendurhi. His father works as a supervisor at Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone.
