Medak Bypoll: Where is Power Star Pawan Kalyan

The mikes fell silent in Medak as the furious campaign for the Lok Sabha bypoll ended on Thursday. Both the TRS and the BJP-TDP combine have unleashed an all-out campaign.

The campaign was vicious and vitriolic. But, one person - in fact the head of a very important political party - is found to be missing in action. No marks for guessing. It is actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.
In the last elections, Pawan was the star campaigner and was seen everywhere holding forth for the BJP. He had time and again said that he would campaign for Jagga Reddy for his forthrightness and courage. But, Pawan remained silent. None contacted him and even he did not evince any interest in campaign.
This time, he turned down the request of his close aide Jagga Reddy. Pawan's silence on TPD 's election promises has also been drawing flak from all corners.
The actor has completely disappeared from the scene. Pawan had promised that he would take the rulers to task if they committed mistakes.
Though Chandrababu Naidu has doled out several promises, nothing has been put into action so far. Chandrababu failed to give any time-frame as to when he would fulfill his pre-poll promises. Many are hoping that he would question Chandrababu? Yet, he is deafeningly silent and is deeply into film shootings.
Sources also say that his presence would have incensed the Telangana people and would have driven them towards the TRS. Pawan's anti-KCR tirade had boomeranged in the last elections. Hence, the BJP-TDP combine may have felt that his presence would be counter-productive.
However, sources close to the actor say that he was under medical treatment for his back pain and could not campaign.
