Massive Fire at Malladi Drug Factory in Tirupati, 7 Workers Sustain Injuries

A major fire broke out at Malladi Drugs Pharmaceutical Unit in Gajulamandyam industrial area located in Renigunta mandal of Tirupati, on Wednesday evening.

The cause of the fire is said to be a reactor blast inside the unit. Seven persons sustained injuries of whom the condition of the our workers is said to be critical. The injured were identified as Rajasekhar (32), Surendra (26) and Krishna Murthy (24). While the three workers were admitted to a local hospital, the four critically injured were shifted to Chennai for specialised treatment.

Officials pressed into service four fire tenders to bring the raging fire under control. Collector PS Pradyumna and MRO Narasimha Naidu rushed to the spot and supervised the fire fighting and rescue operations.
