Man Held For Trying To Rape 13-Year-Old Girl

Hyderabad: Md. Riyaz (32) was arrested by SR Nagar police for trying to rape a 13-year-old girl, who was his neighbor. The attempt to rape was foiled by girl's mother, who came home at the time and found the accused with her daughter.

SR Nagar inspector Md. Waheeduddin said that Riyaz entered the house asking for water. The girl felt no threat as the accused was a known face and lives in the neighborhood. The victim went inside the house and the accused followed her and tried to grab her. However, her mother came on time and stopped the incident.

The incident took place on Saturday at 5 pm when the victim was alone in the house as her parents went for work.

Riyaz works as a driver, and police have registered a case against him under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
