Man Held For Duping Gays, 100 Tola Gold Recovered

Hyderabad: A 32-year-old con artist, who duped and cheated gay and bisexual men, was arrested by Punjagutta police and remanded to judicial custody on Monday. Police have recovered 100 tola gold and a laptop from his possession.

The accused Riyaz Ahmed alias Md Yahya-ul-Hassan alias Ankit worked as production manager at an advertising firm and resided at MIG-6, Huda colony, Mehdipatnam.

During investigations, police discovered that he cheated nine others in Hyderabad, and on the information given by the victims, police traced his number and tacked him to Vasant Vihar in Delhi

“Riyaz identifies his targets on Facebook and websites used by gay men to meet prospective partners. He befriends the victims by chatting up with them and also calling on their mobiles while posing as a gay,” said A Venkateswara Rao, West Zone DCP.

In April the accused cheated a 30-year-old software engineer in Kundanbagh. He laced the victim’s drink and stole his laptop and gold ornaments. Following the incident, a case was filed and coming to know that he was being tracked, the accused left for Delhi in May.
