Lover Attempts Suicide Before Police Station in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Tension prevailed near the Kothapet police station today in Vijayawada West, when a dejected youngster attempted to kill himself by jumping before a running bus.

According to the police, the youth who is identified as Anas is from Islampet colony. He was in love with a girl living in the same locality. Anas eloped with the girl and married her against the wishes of parents of both the sides. Later, both of them approached the local police seeking protection.

The police asked the girl to bring her Class 10 certificates to ascertain her age. The girl, who had gone home to bring the certificates, later refused to go with the boy. The dejected lover picked up argument with her in the police station itself. Insulted by her behaviour, Anas attempted to commit suicide by trying to jump under a running bus. The police personnel and some passersby stopped him and pacified Anas. Following the chaotic situation due to the drama near the police station, vehicular traffic was disrupted along the KT Road stretch. Relatives and friends of Anas as well as his girlfriend rushed to the police station in support of the duo.
