Love For Theatre Brought Shashi Kapoor, Jennifer Kendal Together 

Shashi Kapoor, who was unwell for quite some time now breathed his last on Monday night leaving the film fraternity in shock. We have already shared Shashi's famous dialogues from his movies and some unseen pictures from his life, but not many are aware of his personal life. It was his love for theatre that brought him close to Jennifer Kendal.

Shashi, a young lad in 1956 was 18 when he first saw Jennifer in Calcutta, who played Miranda's character from The Tempest. The duo's mutual interest for theatre brought them together and they went on to marry in July 1958, against the wishes of Jennifer’s family.

The couple eventually started Prithvi Theatre company to bring their love for theatre to life. Both husband and wife went on to collaborate with notable production houses However; Shashi got a jolt of his life after Jennifer’s death who was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer. It is said that life went topsy-turvy for the actor and his health deteriorated thereafter.

The actor is survived by three children - Kunal Kapoor, Karan Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor
