Highlights of YS Jagan's press conference - Sakshi Post

Excerpts from YS Jagan's press conference :

  • Jagan appeals to Chandrababu and the TDP to question their own conscience as to whether they are working for the people and whether what they are doing is for the good of the people.
  • I have never spoken in favour of the Congress. We have only said that YSR's rule was good. We opposed the Congress and worked to defeat it, whereas the TDP tried to save the same Congress government.
  • We want to bring a no confidence motion against the speaker. But, we do not want to waste the Assembly time, which is already curtailed due to various reasons. We will wait for some more time.
  • Jagan wants to have sub-plan for minorities

  • Political murders: TDP did not do anything to endear itself to the people in the last three months. We took up discussion on the deteriorating law and order situation and the attacks on the YSRCP workers. Even as the discussion was going on, there were murder of YSRCP workers in Vinukonda.

  • The TDP government is criticising YSR day in and day out. But, can you assure like him that you would not hike water cess, municipal taxes, power charges? He backed the employees to the hilt. He had brought in the concept of saturation to give out benefits to the people regardless of the caste, creed, political affiliation. Can the TDP do this?

  • Governance should be people-friendly. It should be appreciated by the people. The people will like the government only if it keeps its assurances given to them.
  • TDP trying to bulldoze public aspirations. Why bauxite mining is taken up against the wishes of the tribal people.

  • There are over 1.60 lakh vacant job. But, there is no recruitment. letters have been sent to APPSC to stop recruitments.

  • Fee Reimbursement: There are 14 lakh applications. Only 9.80 lakh applications have been sanctioned reimbursement facility. Rs 3700 crore needed for fee reimbursement. But only 2100 crore allocated.
  • There is no mention of loan waiver for handloom weaver sector. As a result, the indebted weavers are getting notices from the banks.
  • Only Rs 5 crore allocated for NTR Sujala Sravanthi scheme aimed at providing potable water to 5000 villages. At least Rs 250 crore are needed for this. but, only Rs 5 crore allocated.
  • For housing the Government has to make Rs 15000 crore of allocations to live up to TDP's election promise. But, only 808 crore have been allocated in the budget.

  • No mention of Agricultural produce price stabilisation mechanism in the budget.
  • Loan Waiver: For farm loan waiver is needed Rs 86000 crore. But, only Rs 5000 crore have been allocated. (Also Read: Loan Waiver: YSRCP stages walkout)
  • To waive Dwcra loans as promised by the TDP during the elections, RS 14204 crore are needed. But, there is no mention of that in the budget
  • The farmers have to pay an additional Rs 24000 per every lakh of crop loans taken towards interest for non-payment of loan. Who will bear this burden.
  • In the earlier budgetary debates, the then leader of opposition spoke for close to two and a half hours. I was given only 90 minutes.

  • Rs 3700 crore are needed to disburse pensions. But the Government allocated only Rs 1330 crore.

  • AP needs 1145 crore units of power to supply seven hours of uninterrupted power supply to the farmers. It needs Rs 4580 crore. But the government did allocated only Rs 3000 crores, which means that the Government is not prepared to give 7 hours uninterrupted power supply.

  • The way the Assembly is being run is unprecedented. They are not allowing discussion.
  • When I spoke, I was not allowed to conclude my speech. The Speaker had cut off mike connection. (Also Read: Jagan appeals for time to speak)
  • The TDP representatives spoke at will and their speeches were allowed to be continued.
  • There was literally no discussion about allocations. The only topic that the TDP focused on vilifying late Rajasekhara Reddy.
  • Jagan reads out the concluding portion of the speech that he had delivered in the Assembly, but was not allowed to complete.
  • Let the people decide whether this is important or not.
