History

Numaish is an Urdu word which means Exhibition. This was first started in the year 1938 by a group of graduates of Osmania University to showcase the local products in public gardens. More than 100 stalls were set up in the very first exhibition. Later in 1946, it was shifted to Exhibition grounds near Nampally Railway Station. A few years later when different traders from all over the country started showcasing their products, the original name was changed to the All India Industrial Exhibition and was renamed to its original name, Numaish in 2009.
