Hyderabad: Here are the latest developments in the University of Hyderabad issue, where the Joint Action Committee for Social Justice is organising a rally on Wednesday:

ASA SUPPORTERS LATHICHARGED: On Wednesday afternoon, the police swooped down on a hostel, where the students were preparing meals for the people who would attend Kanhaiya's meeting and resorted to lathicharge. As many as six students were injured in the lathicharge.

NO PERMISSION FOR KANHAIYA: The University of Hyderabad administration has denied permission to JNU students leader Kanhaiya Kumar to hold a meeting inside HCU.
The authorites clamped down prohibitory orders banning the entry of outsiders into the university.
Vice-Chancellor Podile Appa Rao said no permission has been sought by anyone for a public meeting. The university has also suspended classes for four days.

HEAVY DEPLOYMENT: Police said additional forces have been deployed on the campus as a precautionary measure and pickets set up around Podile's official residence, which was vandalised on Tuesday by a group of students who were opposing his return as VC after a two-month leave.

ARRESTED STUDENTS SENT TO CHERLAPALLI: As many as 28 students, who were arrested in connection with the vandalism at the VC's guesthouse on Tuesday, have been produced before the court and have been sent to the Cherlapalli prison.

KANHAIYA WANTS ROHITH ACT: Meanwhile, Kanhaiya, on his arrival at Hyderabad, told reporters that the Joint Action Committee for Social Justice of HCU will continue with its struggle until the Centre brings out 'Rohith Act'.
Kanhaiya, who landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here at around 11 AM, told reporters, "I will first meet Rohith Vemula's mother Radhika and his brother Raja. JAC has invited me to address a public meeting on HCU campus...If police allows me then I will definitely go to HCU and address the students.

LEFT ALLEGES ATROCITIES: Meanwhile, the CPI-M on Wednesday demanded the release of Hyderabad Central University students and the dismissal of Vice Chancellor Appa Rao. "It is reported that the university has been sealed, food supplies stopped for hostels, water connections cut off and access to wifi denied, it alleged.
