KCR Enhances Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak Benefits

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister K. Chadrashekhar Rao has enhanced the payouts from Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak scheme from Rs 75,116 to Rs 1,00,116 today.

KCR made the announcement in the Assembly about the enhancement saying, "The decision of enhancement was taken following the expenses the bride’s family have to bear at the time of wedding. I am confident that this good decision taken by government will be applauded by the girl child, their parents and all well wishers of the society. I am humbly reiterating through this august house that with their blessings we are carving Telangana as the welfare state."

The Kalyana Lakshmi scheme was introduced in 2014 and was launched as a one-time aid of financial assistance of Rs. 51,000 to unmarried girls at the time of their wedding. The scheme was initially available only to STs and SCs but later this scheme was extended to the educationally and economically BCs as well. The Kalyana Lakshmi scheme was implemented for the BCs from April 1, 2016. So far, over 3 lakh members have been benefitted by the scheme.
