Kailash Satyarthi’s Nobel Prize Replica Stolen 

New Delhi: Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi's house in New Delhi was burgled in the early hours of Tuesday and the replica of his Nobel prize was stolen.

According to police, the thieves made away with the replica of the Nobel prize and other valuables from his house located in south Delhi's posh Alaknanda area. The original has been kept at Rashtrapati Bhawan as per protocol. Satyarthi, who is in the US at present, had won the Nobel Prize for Peace for 2014 along with Malala Yousafzay of Pakistan.

Police suspect that the burglars were not aware that the original Nobel was kept at Rashtrapati Bhawan and mistook the replica for the original. However, it is yet to be ascertained if the thieves only intended to take away the Nobel prize.

An FIR under section 380 (house theft) of the IPC has been registered and the cops are probing the case on priority.

A manhunt has been launched for the thieves. All scrap dealers and local criminals from the area have been detained. Crime and forensic teams have lifted fingerprints and other evidences from the spot, police said.

The burglary incident has created fear among Delhi residents as Satyarthi's house is located in south Delhi's posh Alaknanda area.

In November last year, several valuable items, including idols and copper Gandhi glasses gifted by the Prime Minister, were stolen from Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor's house.
