Journalist Booked For Trespasing UoH Without Authorisation
Hyderabad: A journalist Kunal S has been booked on Wednesday for allegedly entering the University of Hyderabd (UoH) campus without authorisation.
Kunal working for an English magazine has been booked under charge of trespass and other relevant sections of IPC, said DCP P Vishwa Prasad.
However, the journalist on his part has given justification saying that he was inside the campus on an official duty for collecting information with regard to protest marking Rohith Vemula's first anniversary after being invited by a faculty member of the university.
I was accosted by UoH security personnel and later taken to Cyberabad Commissionerate by local police where an ACP rank officer questioned me for hours together before being let off
Kunal said he had entered the university after showing his ID card and now it claims that he was not having visitor pass for entering the campus.
The university cannot provide a platform for outsiders to participate in the activities called by insiders or outsiders when there is no permission for the same
"I was accosted by UoH security personnel and later taken to Cyberabad Commissionerate by local police where an ACP rank officer questioned me for hours together before being let off," he said.
Meanwhile, the university officials had not issued any permissions to hold such programmes in the campus and the High Court has also banned the entry of all the outsiders into the campus.
"The university cannot provide a platform for outsiders to participate in the activities called by insiders or outsiders when there is no permission for the same," a circular from UoH said.
