Jittery Chandrababu Resorts To Damage Control After Silpa’s Exit From TDP

Silpa Mohan Reddy being invited by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy into the party on Wednesday - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: TDP president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is in distress after senior leader from Kurnool Silpa Mohan Reddy decided to quit the party and join YSR Congress Party on Monday. The CM is reported to have had a series of meetings with his party leaders from Kurnool to discuss the measures to be taken to contain damage with the exit of Reddy.

Chandrababu is reported to have instructed Ministers Bhuma Akhilapriya, Acchennayudu and Kalva Srinivasulu to be in touch with other leaders in the district to avoid any more defections. He also instructed the officials to speed up the welfare schemes and projects in the district as he is planning to visit Nandyal on June 21.

The suspense over the forthcoming by-elections to Nandyal assembly constituency came to an end with senior leader Silpa Mohan Reddy joining YSR Congress Party on Wednesday. He will be fielded by YSRCP in the by-election which was caused by the death of Bhuma Nagi Reddy.

Silpa told Naidu that he had every right to get the party ticket, because he had contested the Nandyal elections in 2014 assembly elections against Bhuma Nagi Reddy, whose death had caused the by-elections.

YS Jagan Welcomes Silpa

Silpa Mohan Reddy on Wednesday joined YSR Congress Party in the presence of the party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the party headquarters in Hyderabad. YS Jagan extended a warm welcome to Silpa by wrapping a party stole around his shoulders.

Speaking on the occasion, Silpa said he is more concerned about the problems of the people of Rayalaseema and Kurnool district in particular as the government has totally neglected the region. He said that most of the leaders in the TDP were unhappy as the party leadership had sidelined them and ignored the issues related to their respective areas.
