Jayalalithaa’s Niece Launches New Party

Chennai: Former chief minister J Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar launched a new party 'MGR Amma's Deepa Peravai' with an aim to unite all anti-Sasikala groups as the main agenda.

Addressing the media here on Friday, Deepa also launched the new party's flag on the occasion to coincide with the late Jayalalithaa's 69th birth anniversary. Incidentally, she will be contesting from the same RK Nagar assembly constituency from where Jayalalithaa contested her last election. Analysts say the entry of Deepa into the arena only created another anti-Sasikala group in Tamil Nadu politics. Speaking on the occasion Deepa did not rule out future tie-up with O Panneerselvam faction.
