Jayalalithaa’s Health Very Critical: Apollo Health Bulletin

Chennai, Dec 5: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's health condition turned very critical on Monday afternoon after she suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday evening. A health bulletin released by Apollo hospital where she was undergoing treatment since September 22 said she is being supported by Extra Corpial Membrane Oxygen (ECMO) and is treated by a team of specialists. ECMO is provided to a patient when the heart stops functioning temporarily.
Heavy security is being deployed in Chennai and all over Tamil Nadu as tensions and grief prevail all over the state. Crowds thronged the hospital since Sunday evening while top leaders and common people across India prayed for her well-being and recovery.
"Our doctors are closely monitoring Hon'ble CM's condition and they are trying their very best," tweeted Apollo Hospitals Joint Managing Director Sangita Reddy on Monday.
Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the AIADMK legislature party was convened at the hospital and all the party MLAs remained in the hospital.
