IPL 2018: NTR Calls Simhadri His First Six In Films

Hyderabad: Star India, the official broadcaster of IPL 2018 in India, has today officially announced Superstar Jr. NTR as the Official Ambassador for broadcast of VIVO IPL 2018 in Telugu on Star Maa Movies. Alok Jain, EVP and Business Head, Star Maa Network, has announced that Star Maa Movies will broadcast the Telugu version of the IPL 2018. The Young Tiger has graced a promotional event organised here today.

Speaking about his association as the official ambassador of IPL telecast in Telugu, the actor said, “I have always been a big sports buff. Who isn’t in India? And for every sports buff, Vivo IPL is the event of the year. I am glad to be associated with the broadcast of IPL 2018 and I am proud that my association is marking the launch of this mammoth enterprise in Telugu on Star Maa Movies.”

For the first time, the VIVO IPL 2018 will be broadcasted in six different local languages, catering to audiences in various states and regions across the country and abroad. “India has always been passionate about sport and VIVO IPL being the biggest sporting property on the calendar every year, we want to give fans the opportunity to watch the #BestvsBest cricket action in their preferred language. The Telugu broadcast of VIVO IPL 2018 will be on Star MAA Movies and who better to advocate VIVO IPL in Telugu than Jr. NTR. The mutual love and respect he has for his fans and vice-versa, made him the right person to take the message to the fans who are at the heart of this experience. As we continue to re-imagine VIVO IPL in 2018, we hope the fans watching the matches will enjoy the Telugu commentary,” said Jain.

The Telugu commentary team for IPL 2018 on Star Maa Movies will feature former Indian cricketers and some distinct voices in Venkatapathi Raju, Venugopal Rao, Kalyan Krishna, C. Venkatesh, Chandrasekhar P, Sudheer Mahavadi and RJ Koushik.
After the announcement, NTR has had some lighter moments when he spoke to media. When asked about his big Sixer in films, he laughingly said that he really enjoyed the success of Simhadri and that it is his first Six in films. “Win or lose, being humble and disciplined to the profession is the most important trait to possess, be it films or sports or any other field. When I was young, I always had a knack of choosing the successful players in any sport. Naturally, Sachin Tendulkar was my favourite cricketer. Personally, I had an inclination to Badminton. I was a professional player back when I was young,” he said.
To establish Telugu IPL broadcast, the broadcasters have released a commercial featuring Jr. NTR. The commercial captures a scene in NTR’s home where his friends are debating the need for IPL in Telugu commentary. NTR asks, “Telugu aite yenta?” (What’s so special about Telugu?), and goes on to say how you always need a special something -- Imagine Chicken without mirchi; Pakoda with onion; A car without petrol and sleeping on a mother’s lap. As his friends agree to NTR’s words, he wraps up the commercial with “Asalu Maza, Telugu ra!”
