IPL 2018: Look Out For These Batsmen

The most attractive aspect of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is its raining sixes and explosive batting. It would not be wrong to say that that IPL has produced some of the best batsmen in today’s world cricket. Over the past decade of IPL, we have seen at least a bunch of batsman pitching in with good performances with the bat all through the season every year. Let us look at some of the batsman who are expected to do well in IPL 2018:

Virat Kohli - RCB

Undoubtedly the best batsman of this generation of players, Virat Kohli is rearing to taste his first IPL success this season. Fresh from a brief break from cricket, Kohli will look to post big totals for RCB, along with AB De Villiers.

Alex Hales - SRH

On his day, this England batsman can win matches single-handed. Sunrisers Hyderabad roped in this six-foot-five-inch player as a replacement for David Warner, who has been banned for an year after the ball tampering scandal. Alex Hales has cemented his place in the England limited overs team with his steady performances in the past few years.

Chris Lynn - KKR

Chris Lynn is known for his big sixes in the IPL. The Australian batsman caught attention in IPL 2016, when he scored 295 runs, at an average of 49.15. Last year, Lynn was injured in the initial stages of IPL, which left him out of the major part of the season.

Colin Munro - DD

This New Zealand batsman is known for his explosive batting in the power-play overs. With an astonishing strike rate of over 146, Colin Munro has heavily contributed to New Zealand’s success in shortest format, especially in the recent times.

Treated as a specialist T20 batsman, Munro could be highly successful in the IPL, because of shorter grounds in India, similar to the grounds in New Zealand.

Dinesh Karthik - KKR

The newly appointed Kolkata Knight Riders captain is fresh from his good show in the recently ended Nidahas T20 Tri-Series in Sri Lanka. Karthik hit a last ball six to hand India the Tri-Series. His cameo of 31 runs from 8 balls has been highly appreciated following the sensational victory.

Although he doesn’t have experience as captain in the international level, KKR choose Karthik as their new captain. The wicket-keeper batsman has been consistently putting up good performances in the IPL over the past few years.
