Hyderabad: Around 260 intermediate students of Vasavi Junior College at Vanasthalipuram in Hyderabad were not allowed to write the examination by the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education even as the intermediate examinations began in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari issued a statement saying action will be taken against the college management.

The students were denied hall tickets as the college was not recognized by the Board which filed a criminal case against the college for cheating students. As the agitated students demanded for justice, the Board assured them to appear for the advanced supplementary exams which are conducted before the admission season for the academic year.

Students and their parents gathered at the college in distress but no official from the education department turned up to rectify the wrong committed by the college management or assure them on an alternative arrangement. As the first year students already lost their academic year by missing out the exam on Wednesday, second year students are demanding that at least they be allowed to write the exams which start from Thursday.

In AP, 1435 exam centers have been set up and 1291 in Telangana state. Students are not allowed into the exam hall even if they arrive one minute late at the center.
