Mumbai: A chemical engineering graduate, from IIT Mumbai, Sanket Parekh, has renounced all worldly pleasures and has decided to take to Jainism in its austerest form, on Saturday January 22.

He gave up the prospects of a lucrative career, a prosperous future and everything else that goes with it.

Sanket hails from a traditional family and had planned to pursue higher studies in the US till very recently. However, he was inspired by the example of his senior, Bhavik, with whom he had been chatting online regularly.

Sanket was torn between leading a regular, worldly life and embarking on a spiritual journey. In the end, realizing that he would find solace in spiritualism alone, he decided to emulate his senior, Bhavik who opted for Deeksha in the Jain order, in 2013, to set out on the course to become an ascetic. Sanket had been in touch with Bhavik to seek a resolution to the conflict raging within him.

Sanket has now renounced all worldly things, including the computer he had been using to chat with his friend.
