I will continue to work as a party worker: Nara Lokesh - Sakshi Post

For the past few years, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has been trying to groom his son Lokesh as his successor. A section of TDP leaders have been vocal in their demand that Lokesh be appointed the president of Telugu Yuvatha, the youth wing of the party.

Chandrababu, who is  trying to walk in the footsteps of Dr. Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy.and is planning to embark on a padayatra starting from October 2, recently hinted that  Lokesh was likely to be anointed as the TDP General Secretary. However, Lokesh today ruled out the possibility saying, "I will continue to work as a party worker. What is important is fighting for the people's problems" .

Lokesh also predicted that TDP would return to power in the 2014 elections.
"The TDP alone has the strength to take on the Congress and it is the only party fighting for the people's cause," he said.

Lokesh, who was visiting his home district of Chittoor to attend a family ceremony, said his father's padayatra' beginning next month would further strengthen the party.
Chandrababu is all set to embark on an 117-day padayatra from three weeks from now. He plans to cover 2,320 km, interacting with farmers and others to acquaint himself with their their problems.
In his absence, his son is likely to take care of the party affairs.
"I worked in 2009 elections and also in the by-elections," he said, while evading a direct reply whether or not he planned to contest in the next elections.
Lokesh, who did his MBA from Stanford University in the US, had been helping his mother Bhuvaneshwari in the family business and is married to Brahmini, the daughter of his maternal uncle N. Balakrishna, a popular Telugu film star and son of TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao.
Meanwhile, if sources are to be believed, Lokesh's other maternal uncle Harikrishna, is reportedly unhappy with the developments surrounding his nephew's rise. Harikrishna was keen to see his son Junior NTR, become the heir to the NTR legacy.
However, Junior NTR, who had campaigned for the party actively along with Balakrishna in the 2009 elections, ruled out joining active politics for now, when asked some months ago.
