Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday appointed two former judges as administrators for Hyderabad Cricket Association for the smooth conduct of IPL matches starting next month.

The division bench of acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter passed the order on an application filed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) requesting the court to appoint administrators. The court appointed retired Supreme Court judge A R Dave and retired High Court judge G V Seethapathy as the administrators.

The BCCI said that considering the state of affairs at the HCA, administrators were needed so that next month's IPL matches here could be conducted smoothly. Results of the HCA elections were stayed by the High Court earlier this year after the elections got embroiled in litigation. Govind Reddy, a lawyer and a cricket enthusiast, had originally filed a PIL seeking court's intervention to ensure affairs of Hyderabad Cricket Association were streamlined as per the recommendations of the justice Lodha Committee. The BCCI was a party to the PIL.
