GHMC polls: HC slams T Govt's plans to delay elections - Sakshi Post

KCR Government, which is trying to postpone the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections fearing a possible poll reversal, found itself in a piquant position when the High Court refused to entertain its plea for another 249 days time to hold the elections.

It asked the T government to hold the elections at the earliest. It also wanted the GHMC to come up with the possible dates for holding the polls.
M Padmanabha Reddy of the Centre for Good Governance had filed a PIL with the High Court on the issue of the delay in GHMC elections. In its counter, GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar sought another 246 days as the process of delimitation of the constituencies is being taken up. However, the court said it would announce the schedule if the government did not come up with the dates.
