GHMC Encroaching Hyderabad Public School Land: Management

The HPS management lamented that this action is being supported by Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Public School (HPS) management has alleged that about 2.75 acres of the campus land was being encroached by GHMC officials in the name of a graveyard.

HPS Board of Governors at a press conference on Thursday said that the land in survey No 147/1 belongs to HPS Begumpet and despite a stay order in force, issued twice by the Hyderabad High Court, encroachment was continuing on northern periphery of the boundary in the name of a burial ground. The management lamented that this action is being supported by Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao.

The management rued that at present the laying of foundation had been done and on October 5 signboards have been put up showing the area as a Hindu burial ground

“We confronted the contractor who was at site on October 2 and asked him to stop the work because of High Court stay. He informed us that the stay is no more valid because revenue officials have documents showing the land belongs to the government and these were handed over to GHMC officials in the last week in the presence of district collector and political leaders. He even said that the stay has been vacated," said Mr Gusti J. Noria, vice-chairman, Board of Governors and member of the managing committee of HPS.

The management rued that at present the laying of foundation had been done and on October 5 signboards have been put up showing the area as a Hindu burial ground.

Gusti J. Noria said that they are contemplating to file a contempt petition against the officer for defying orders.

It may be recalled that last year in July, some residents with the help of local politicians encroached the land, however HPS management thwarted the attempt with the help of Begumpet police.

Following this an order was released by Ranga Reddy district collector saying that a portion of the land belonged to the government. To this, HPS approached High Court which issued a stay order on August 14, 2015.

Another attempt of land encroachment was made this year in April and HPS management again got the stay order in July from High Court.
